Renovation trends in 2023 comes from a study done by Houzz.
This was a large survey of Houzz users – 46,118 people, which included 24,667 who are either currently renovating, planning to renovate in 2023, or did home renovations in 2022.
Of those surveyed and did a home renovation in 2022, 61% said they plan to stay in their homes for 11 years or more.
55% of those surveyed plan to do some sort of renovation of their homes in 2023.
Kitchens and bathrooms were the most popular spaces that were renovated in 2022, with kitchens coming in at 28% and bathrooms at 25%.
As homes in the US are aging, their systems need updates and upgrades. For system upgrades alone, cooling and heating systems were the highest priced updates, with one in five homeowners taking that on in 2022. 29% of homeowners took on their plumbing systems, followed closely by electrical and home automation, at 28% and 25%.
This is a really in-depth and very interesting report to peruse. It looks like many people want to remodel their homes to stay in them for a long time! I thank Houzz for sharing their data and study!
